Recruiting diverse talent
The Problem
Unstandardized Jobs & Training
Energy job growth is outpacing overall US job growth by more than 40 percent, with wind and solar technician jobs representing 2 of the top 5 fastest-growing occupations. Federal incentives are spurring a manufacturing renaissance in this country, with 42,000+ manufacturing jobs announced in the past year and a half, providing new opportunities for those looking the branch out into a clean power career. Meanwhile, labor force participation is down 5 percent from 20 years ago.
As a nascent industry, today’s youth, especially those from disadvantaged communities, do not know about the career pathways available to them in clean energy. As a result, the clean energy workforce does not represent the richness of America’s diversity, and the industry loses out on attracting and retaining exceptional talent.

The Solution
Clean energy careers campaign
Working in partnership with community-based organizations, public schools, the military, training institutions, and national and local workforce councils, CPI is building a targeted campaign that attracts a more diverse talent pipeline into clean energy careers.
